These are my current favourite pews, though this may change as we seem to be clearing pews from churches on a fortnighly basis at the moment. We only have 4 of them and this one is shown before being stripped (they are pitch pine, a rather pinky, dense, hard wearing wood). They came from a lovely church in Dumbarton but we were told that they originally came from Bonar bridge, just north of Inverness. They have a slightly stern look about them and an unusually high back and I think they are a lot older than the bulk of our pews (but its only a hunch). Certainly the work of the local craftsman. They are a max of 97 inches long, but we can always reduce the length. |
